Health Advocate Training Package

The Health Advocate training Package is a 1 day training course for people with an interest in promoting health within your organisation. The training is accompanied by a training booklet and a selection of useful resources The role of a health advocate is

• To attend the health advocate training
• To ensure that health and well being are kept high on the organisation’s agenda
• To organise, promote and evaluate health events and campaigns within the workplace
• To maintain effective communication with colleagues and workplace leads with regard to health and well being
• To support individual colleagues and signpost them to external agencies where appropriate

The 1 day training comprises of 4 sessions:

• The basic concepts of health
• Factors that influence health
• Attitudes towards health

Session 2

• Health and the Law
• The role of a Health Advocate
• Essential skills for being a Health Advocate

Session 3

• Prevention of ill health
• Behaviour change

• Promoting health in the workplace
• Brief interventions
